Published by:

Batman is an icon in the comic book world and the various Batman films have done amazingly well over the years. Brett Culp explores the significance of the Batman as he relates to people who are looking for inspiration in their lives. Legends of the Knight is an amazing project that has taken on a life of its own and Brett explains the genesis of the project, some of his workflow and most importantly his completely unorthodox distribution model. We had a great time putting this episode together. Also, don’t miss our new “last question” for Season 2.

Big thinkers are my favorite guests. John Davidson is doing amazing things with FCPX and his multi-seat facility in LA servicing broadcasters in a unique way. If you want to learn more about Johns background and his company you may want to checkout FCG009. In this episode we just right into 10.1.2 and how the new Library structure benefits workgroup workflows and John COMPLETELY schools me in a workflow trick that I had not figured out yet. If you share media on a network BE SURE to take notes, this is a “not to miss” episode of The Grill.

What happens when Apple takes your pro app, kills it and replaces it with a seemingly consumer app? No, I’m not talking about the FCP Classic to FCPX transition but the move from Aperture to Apples new “Photos” App. Joseph Linaschke, founder of Aperture Expert, joins us and discusses what he likes to call “obvious speculation” about what Apple has up their sleeves for their new Photo tool.

Looking to the past to discern the future. Alex Gollner has many tools at his disposal to predict the future of FCPX and as always, any conversation with him is amazing and fun-filled.  In this episode of The Grill we look at what happened in the decade prior to the suspension of development on FCP7 and what we’ve seen in the last 3 years of development of FCPX. Chris also invents the user interface of the new “Roles Mixer” that he expects to be implemented any day… (not really but you can dream, right?)

10.1.2 is out and Sam and I touch on it but so much more. 12 Core vs. 8 Core. Spatial Conform. Some new 10.1.2 features for pros. Also, Sam announces his new Keyboard mapping for Tangent Element Surfaces and FCPX, available exclusively thru FCP Works.
